, Bulgaria Pushes for Formal Coalition Agreement of Continue the Change and Democratic Bulgaria and Common Centre-Right Presidential Candidate

The National Council of the “Yes, Bulgaria” party, a component of the Democratic Bulgaria/CC-DB coalition, has mandated the party to draft a formal coalition agreement for its partners. According to the party’s press office, this measure addresses the current operational gap due to the absence of a binding agreement. The proposed document aims to establish clear governing structures, define decision-making protocols, outline rules for the parliamentary group’s activities, set criteria for candidate nominations, and establish a unified personnel policy.

Furthermore, it intends to eliminate existing party quotas in future elections. A significant component of the decision is the development of a “roadmap for the creation of a unified democratic centre-right political entity,” involving the current alliance members and potentially other participants in Bulgaria. Additionally, the National Council instructed the Executive Council to prepare for upcoming presidential elections, working toward securing support for a common democratic centre-right candidate as quickly as possible.

The decision also sets specific legislative priorities for “Yes, Bulgaria” Members of Parliament in the new parliament. These priorities include maintaining an opposition stance against excessive power concentration and proposing right-wing fiscal measures within the draft state budget. Key legislative goals also encompass introducing a new Judiciary Act with updated criteria for selecting members of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), advancing anti-corruption legislation, and calling for the removal of state security protection for key political figures.

Finally, the plan addresses healthcare funding by proposing that private hospitals undergo public tenders for medicines and implementing SMS notifications for health services to prevent misuse of National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) funds.
