The Camping & Caravaning Expo 2026 commenced Friday at the former Sofia Land park area and will continue through Sunday. Organized by Camping.BG, this marks the 12th consecutive year of the forum. This year, the event features 99 exhibitors representing Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, and Germany, and is anticipated to draw over 12,000 visitors.
The expo showcases the latest trends in recreational vehicles, including campers, caravans, and associated outdoor activities, alongside camping and water sports products. According to Camping.BG founder Veselin Valev, interest in camping tourism in Bulgaria is increasing. He noted that equipment costs vary widely, ranging from modest to substantial investments.
Valev differentiated between campers and caravans, advising that campers are better suited for travel and short stops, while caravans are more suitable for extended stays in one location. He also recommended that novices begin at regulated campgrounds, citing the amenities available compared to wild camping. The expo provides practical advice for attendees, covering topics such as converting vans into campervans, solar systems, and choosing between renting or purchasing vehicles.
Furthermore, the event emphasizes responsible camping, partnering with environmental associations for educational activities promoting sustainable travel. While infrastructure remains a challenge, Valev stated that developing quality roads to tourist spots is crucial for the sector’s growth. The event offers a comprehensive program throughout its duration, catering to various interests from family entertainment to specialized travel presentations.
