Centre at Azalia Hotel in Sts Constantine and Helena Resort Attracts Growing Interest from Dutch, Polish Guests

Spa services at the Azalia Hotel in the Sts Constantine and Helena resort are seeing increased patronage from international visitors, including those from the Netherlands and Poland, according to spa manager Nikolay Popov. Popov attributes this growth to the centre’s utilization of natural healing resources, such as mineral water combined with seawater, lye, and healing mud. He also noted the high satisfaction levels among guests regarding the extensive experience of the on-site specialists.

Balneological therapies are particularly sought after by individuals over 60, with common concerns including musculoskeletal issues, neurodegenerative diseases, herniated discs, and lower back pain—conditions affecting nearly three-quarters of older adults. Lyubomir Stamboliyski, Commercial Director at Sts Constantine & Helena Holding AD, points to a broader trend: a heightened focus on wellness among younger demographics since the pandemic. He anticipates this will fuel growth in spa and wellness tourism, noting that the average age of those seeking rehabilitation services is declining from 40–45 to approximately 28–31.

Furthermore, the services offered are evolving. Instead of fixed treatment packages, the centres are providing individualized protocols, mirroring medical practices. These programs extend beyond treatments using thermal water, mud, or specialized equipment to include guidance on diet, physical activity, and supplements.

To develop these comprehensive protocols, the company collaborates with physicians nationwide, allowing for online consultations. The resort attracts visitors from Germany and the Czech Republic, signaling growing international interest in medical and spa tourism across the Balkans. The industry’s commitment is highlighted by initiatives like BTA’s BG SPA: Salus per aquam, which showcases over 200 certified spa and wellness centres in Bulgaria.
