Commission Praised by International Observers for Transparent Vote

The Central Election Commission (CEC) held a final meeting with an international team from the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) on Monday. In a press release, the CEC reported that the international observers commended the Commission for organizing the April 19 parliamentary elections, assessing the process as transparent and noting the calm passage of election day without significant violations. The international mission issued preliminary findings that assessed the CEC’s performance positively.

Observers acknowledged the efforts of the CEC and the election administration, citing high levels of public trust, effective preparation across all operational levels, and a transparent certification process for voting machines. Furthermore, the observers highlighted the success of the large-scale public awareness campaign, which included outreach targeting young voters. The utilization of digital tools was also noted as beneficial; specifically, a mobile application designed for section commissions to complete tally sheets improved accuracy, and an interactive map enhanced both information access and overall transparency.

During discussions, the observers addressed the work of section election commissions and the reporting of results, expressing support for proposed changes to the legal framework put forth by the CEC. Overall, international observers concluded that the snap parliamentary elections were conducted transparently and efficiently, accompanied by high voter turnout. Representatives from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) noted the strong organization of responsible institutions and active civic participation, despite a procedural limitation set by Parliament restricting the number of sections in non-EU countries to twenty, excluding diplomatic missions.

  1. It’s reassuring to hear that international observers recognize the transparency of the election process.
