Direct Investments in Bulgaria Exceed EUR 800 Mln in First Two Months of 2026, Says InvestBulgaria Agency Head

Foreign direct investments (FDI) in Bulgaria reached over EUR 800 million during the first two months of the current year, marking nearly double the growth recorded in the same period last year. This figure was reported by Angel Ivanov, acting Executive Director of the InvestBulgaria Agency, during the opening ceremony for the Investor of the Year 2025 awards, an event marking the initiative’s 20th anniversary. The Agency is also celebrating its 30th anniversary.

Ivanov stated that over several decades, Bulgaria has established itself as a competitive investment destination. He noted that the quality of investments has improved, and the number of projects generating high added value has increased. He attributed this success to the country’s institutional support, stable macroeconomic environment, a favorable tax system among EU members, and its human capital, which is increasingly recognized as a critical competitive advantage.

The Agency highlighted priority sectors for future growth: manufacturing, information and communication technologies, research and development, and education. While welcoming all investments, Ivanov stressed that the government has clearly defined these priorities to foster a more innovative and competitive Bulgaria. The Investor of the Year initiative recognizes companies and projects that contribute to the nation’s economic development, job creation, innovation, and sustainable growth.

During the ceremony, President Iliana Iotova presented the InvestBulgaria Agency with the Honorary Badge of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria on the occasion of its 30th anniversary. The event gathered leading representatives from the business community, state institutions, and international partners.
