Foreign direct investments into Bulgaria surpassed EUR 800 million during the first two months of the current year. Acting Executive Director of the InvestBulgaria Agency, Angel Ivanov reported that this figure represents nearly double the growth recorded during the same period the previous year, despite complex international conditions. These remarks were made during the opening ceremony for the Investor of the Year 2025 awards, an initiative marking the 20th anniversary of the recognition program and the 30th anniversary of the Agency itself.
Ivanov emphasized that Bulgaria has solidified its position as a competitive investment destination over several decades. He noted improvements in investment quality and an increasing number of projects contributing high added value. The Agency attracts investors through its institutional support, a stable macroeconomic environment, a tax system considered highly favorable within the EU, and its human capital, which he cited as a key competitive advantage.
The government has outlined specific priorities to foster a more innovative Bulgaria, focusing on manufacturing, information and communication technologies, research and development, and education. While welcoming all investment, Ivanov stressed the strategic focus areas for future growth. He reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to supporting investors, stating that the success of the investors directly correlates with the success of Bulgaria.
