Editor-in-Chief Tina Mari Flem Elected President of Media Innovation Network MINDS

Tina Mari Flem, the editor-in-chief of the Norwegian News Agency, has been elected President of MINDS, the international media innovation network. Flem assumes the presidency following the conclusion of the term for the chief executive officer of the Finnish News Agency. The election took place on Thursday afternoon during the annual general meeting of MINDS in Vienna.

At the event, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev congratulated Flem on her election and presented her with the English-language edition of the book The Real News: Stories on Life 1898-2023, marking the 125th anniversary of BTA. BTA recently bolstered its standing within the international press landscape, becoming the 23rd member of MINDS at the end of April 2022. This addition followed a unanimous decision by the MINDS General Assembly during the organization’s 32nd conference in Helsinki.

This membership places Bulgaria’s national news agency alongside prominent global entities such as Reuters, Agence France-Presse, and the Associated Press. BTA maintains operational agreements with 16 agencies that are members of MINDS. These partnerships include Anadolu Agency, ANP, Athens-Macedonian News Agency, ANSA, AFP, AP, Austria Presse Agentur, Belga, Deutsche Presse-Agentur, EFE, Kyodo News, LETA, Lusa, Polish Press Agency, Press Trust of India, and Reuters.

The election of Flem solidifies leadership within the global news sector, while BTA continues to expand its reach through these established international news networks.
