Election Commission: With 87.23% of Tally Sheets Processed, Progressive Bulgaria Leads with 44.6%, Second Is CC-DB with 13.5%

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released preliminary results concerning the parliamentary elections held on April 19. These initial figures are based on the processing of 87.23% of the tally sheets submitted by section election commissions to the constituency election commissions, according to updates received at 9 a.m. on Monday.

Under the provisions of the Election Code, the CEC is legally mandated to announce the total votes received and the subsequent distribution of seats among political parties and coalitions no later than four days following the election day. Furthermore, the official names of the elected Members of Parliament must be published within seven days of the election. These proceedings mark the eighth parliamentary election held in Bulgaria since 2021.

The preliminary nature of the current announcement means that final figures are pending the reconciliation of all remaining tally sheets. The ongoing work of the various commissions is crucial to establishing the final mandate for the new legislative body. The CEC’s process involves rigorous verification across multiple levels of the electoral structure.

Stakeholders await the finalization of the vote count, which will determine the composition of the parliament. The transparency and adherence to the established legal timeline by the election commission are central to the democratic conclusion of the electoral cycle.
