The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released preliminary results concerning the parliamentary election held on April 19. As of 9:00 a.m. on Monday, the commission reported processing the data from 87.23% of the tally sheets collected by the section election commissions at the constituency level.

These preliminary figures represent the ongoing tabulation following the election, which marked the eighth parliamentary poll in Bulgaria since 2021. The CEC operates under specific mandates outlined in the Election Code regarding the timeline for official declarations. According to the code, the commission is required to announce the total votes received and the subsequent distribution of seats among various political parties and coalitions no later than four days following the election day.

Furthermore, the names of the elected Members of Parliament must be officially published within seven days after the election. The release of these preliminary results indicates the procedural progress of the electoral counting process. Stakeholders are awaiting the finalization of the count as the commission works to process all outstanding tally sheets.

The ongoing work of the commission is crucial for establishing the definitive mandate of the new legislative body. The consistent reporting of the tally sheets by the various levels of the commission is expected to lead to a final certification of the election results in adherence to the established legal framework.
