Election Commission: With 91.68% of Tally Sheets Processed, Progressive Bulgaria Leads with 44.7%, Second Is GERB-UDF with 13.4%

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released preliminary results stemming from the parliamentary election held on April 19. As of 10:00 am on Monday, the initial data was compiled based on 91.68% of the total tally sheets processed by the section election commissions and subsequently aggregated at the constituency election commissions. The preliminary announcement identified the parties and coalitions that successfully met the 4% electoral threshold required for parliamentary representation.

Under the stipulations of the Election Code, the CEC is legally obligated to announce the final vote counts and the official distribution of seats among all participating parties and coalitions no later than four days following the election day. Furthermore, the names of the elected Members of Parliament must be formally announced within seven days of the election. These proceedings marked the eighth parliamentary election in Bulgaria since 2021.

The ongoing processing of the tally sheets by the various commission levels is crucial to finalizing the vote count. The CEC’s detailed reporting mechanism ensures transparency throughout the post-election period, confirming the systematic review of results from every polling location. The preliminary data provides an initial snapshot, pending the full tabulation by the respective commission bodies.
