Election Commission: With 91.68% of Tally Sheets Processed, Progressive Bulgaria Leads with 44.7%, Second Is GERB-UDF with 13.4%

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released preliminary findings from the parliamentary election held on April 19. These initial results are based on the processing of 91.68% of the required tally sheets, which were gathered through section election commissions and subsequently reported to the constituency election commissions as of 10:00 AM on Monday. The announcement detailed which political parties and coalitions successfully crossed the established 4% electoral threshold.

According to the CEC’s operational mandates, the commission is required to formally announce the total votes received and the subsequent distribution of seats among all participating parties and coalitions no later than four days following the election day. Furthermore, the naming of elected Members of Parliament must be finalized and announced within seven days of the election. These proceedings marked the eighth parliamentary election in Bulgaria since 2021.

The release of these preliminary figures represents a critical step in the post-election process, providing an initial overview of the voting patterns recorded across the country. The methodical aggregation of data, utilizing the tally sheets processed by various commissions, is central to the CEC’s responsibility to ensure transparency in the final declaration of results. The ongoing review by the commission aims to consolidate all data to determine the final composition of the legislative body following the election.
