Election Commission: With 91.68% of Tally Sheets Processed, Progressive Bulgaria Leads with 44.7%, Second Is GERB-UDF with 13.4%

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released preliminary results following the parliamentary election held on April 19. These initial figures are based on the processing of 91.68% of the total tally sheets submitted by the section and constituency election commissions, as reported at 10:00 AM on Monday. The announcement detailed which political parties and coalitions successfully surpassed the mandated 4% electoral threshold.

The process of determining the final vote counts and the subsequent distribution of seats among the various political entities is governed by the Election Code. According to this code, the CEC is required to formally announce the total votes received and the allocation of seats to all parties and coalitions no later than four days after the election day. Furthermore, the names of the elected Members of Parliament must be published within seven days following the election.

This electoral cycle represents the eighth parliamentary election in Bulgaria since 2021. The preliminary data provided by the various commissions serves as an interim update as the final count continues. The involvement of multiple levels of commission—from the local section level up to the central body—is crucial to ensuring the integrity and comprehensive nature of the final tally.

The release of these preliminary figures allows stakeholders to gauge the immediate outcomes of the vote. The ongoing work of the commission is focused on aggregating the data from every polling station to finalize the comprehensive results that will determine the composition of the next parliamentary body.
