Folk Dance Troupe from Hamburg Prepares for Travelling Festival in Munich

The RitmiKKa folk dance troupe from Hamburg, Germany, is scheduled to participate in the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance traveling festival, taking place in Munich from May 15 to 17. The troupe will perform a routine based on a piece choreographed by Zahari Andreev, which was created approximately 60 years ago. Kamen Kunev, the headmaster and choreographer of the group, noted that selecting this specific dance aims to preserve the legacy of renowned figures in the performing arts.

He explained that the choreography represents a traditional communal gathering, evoking the atmosphere of village squares where people would assemble after working in the fields. For the troupe, performing this piece symbolizes the unity of the community, suggesting that the spirit of their culture remains connected wherever members reside. In preparation for the festival, the group has undergone an entire season of rehearsals, perfecting every detail.

Furthermore, the troupe will debut in brand new costumes designed specifically for the event by fashion designer Nikolay Kolev. The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is an initiative organized for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The festival was first launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France.

The 11th edition in Munich anticipates participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance of more than 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the event.
