The Veselyatsite folk fitness group from Madrid will join the Severnyatsi folk dance formation from Segovia, Spain, at the eleventh iteration of the “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Hands” gathering. This event is scheduled to take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich, Germany. Mariyana Topalska, leader of the Veselyatsite group, stated that their performance piece reenacts the memories of an elderly couple anticipating their daughter’s wedding.
The narrative centers on the couple reflecting on their own youthful romance and marriage while awaiting the arrival of matchmakers. Topalska emphasized the message conveyed through the performance: that life is transient, and love remains the eternal constant. She asserted that without love, warmth, and companionship, other aspects of life lose value.
The Severnyatsi dance formation, established in 2015 and led by Galya Marinova, is collaborating with the Veselyatsite group. Topalska noted that this joint participation allows the two ensembles to combine their efforts and showcase Bulgarian culture to an international audience. The choreography was developed through the combined work of dancers from both groups and the former leader of Severnyatsi, Antoniy Angelov.
The traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance, is organized for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria. The initiative was founded by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth in 2025. Organizers anticipate over 100 dance ensembles and 4,000 guests for the Munich event.
The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the gathering.
