Folk Group from Madrid to Perform Together with Severnyatsi Folk Dance Formation from Segovia in Munich

The Veselyatsite folk fitness group from Madrid will collaborate with the Severnyatsi folk dance formation from Segovia, Spain, at the eleventh edition of the traveling gathering, “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Hands.” This event is scheduled to take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich, Germany. Mariyana Topalska, leader of the Veselyatsite group, stated that the performance piece they have prepared reenacts the memories of an elderly couple anticipating their daughter’s wedding. According to Topalska, the performance depicts the couple reminiscing about their own youth and courtship.

She emphasized that the central message of the routine is the transient nature of life, asserting that love is the only enduring element. She added that without love, warmth, and companionship, other aspects of life lose value. The Severnyatsi dance formation, established in 2015 and led by Galya Marinova, will join the Veselyatsite group.

Topalska highlighted that this joint participation offers a chance to unify the efforts of both ensembles and showcase Bulgarian culture to an international audience. The choreography resulted from a collaborative effort involving dancers from both groups and the former leader of Severnyatsi, Antoniy Angelov. The festival, which focuses on amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria, was initiated by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France.

The 11th edition in Munich anticipates participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance of more than 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the event.
