Folk Group from Madrid to Perform Together with Severnyatsi Folk Dance Formation from Segovia in Munich

The Veselyatsite folk fitness group from Madrid will participate in the eleventh edition of the traveling gathering, “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Hands.” They will join forces with the Severnyatsi folk dance formation from Segovia, Spain, for the event scheduled from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich, Germany. The Veselyatsite group leader, Mariyana Topalska, explained that their presented performance recreates a narrative of an elderly couple reflecting on their youth and enduring love while anticipating their daughter’s wedding. Topalska stated that the piece aims to convey the message that while life is transient, love remains eternal, emphasizing the importance of connection and shared memories.

The Severnyatsi formation, which was established in 2015 and is led by Galya Marinova, is joining the effort to showcase Bulgarian culture to an international audience. Topalska noted that the choreography resulted from the joint efforts of dancers from both ensembles and former Severnyatsi leader Antoniy Angelov. The festival, organized for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria, was initiated by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France.

The 11th edition in Munich anticipates participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance of more than 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the event, overseeing all participating acts.
