Folklore Club from Northern Ireland to Perform Collaboration With Detelini Folklore Ensemble from Athens

The Chemshir Bulgarian Folklore Club, based in Armagh, northern Ireland, is scheduled to participate in a collaborative performance at the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival. This event will take place in Munich from May 15 to 17, featuring a collaboration with the Detelini Dance Folklore Ensemble from Athens. The performance is expected to showcase dancers from multiple nations, including Greece, northern Ireland, Cyprus, and the USA.

Plamena Chemshirova, the dance group leader, stated that the event holds significance as a symbol of the global connection of Bulgarian dancers. The group plans to present a Thracian dance originating from the Pazardzhik Region. According to Chemshirova, the choreography narrates themes of youthful romance, the strength of friendship, and the captivating essence of the Bulgarian horo, a traditional dance form connecting people through emotion.

The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival is organized specifically for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was founded by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted the inaugural event in 2015 and is slated to host the tenth edition in 2025. Organizers anticipate participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance of more than 4,000 guests at the Munich festival.

The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the event and will provide coverage of all participants.
