Folklore Club from Northern Ireland to Perform Collaboration With Detelini Folklore Ensemble from Athens

The Chemshir Bulgarian Folklore Club, located in Armagh, Northern Ireland, is scheduled to participate in a joint performance with the Detelini Dance Folklore Ensemble from Athens. This collaboration will take place at the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival in Munich, Germany, from May 15 to 17. The performance is set to feature dancers representing multiple nations, including Greece, Northern Ireland, Cyprus, and the USA.

Plamena Chemshirova, the dance group leader, stated that this gathering serves as a significant symbol of the global community of Bulgarian dancers. The group plans to present a Thracian dance originating from the Pazardzhik Region. According to Chemshirova, the choreography narrates themes of young love, the strength of friendship, and the enchantment of the Bulgarian horo, which she described as a connection point for people through love.

The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival is specifically organized for and by amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was established by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which has hosted previous editions, including the first in 2015 and the tenth in 2025. The upcoming 11th edition in Munich anticipates attendance from over 100 dance ensembles and more than 4,000 guests.

The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the event and will provide coverage for all participants.
