Folklore Group Chilnovski Babi to Participate in Munich Festival

The authentic folklore group Chilnovski Babi, originating from the village of Chilnov in Bulgaria’s Ruse Region, is set to participate in the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival. The event is scheduled to take place from May 15 to May 17 at BMW Park in Munich. Stefka Atanasova, the group’s artistic director, announced that the ensemble will perform two songs: “Libe le, libe hubavo” and “Song for Bulgaria.” She noted that preparations for the festival are proceeding with significant enthusiasm, especially as the group recently marked its 40th anniversary.

Atanasova stated that the group, comprised of women from various ethnic backgrounds within Bulgaria, remains dedicated to celebrating Bulgarian culture. The group’s longevity and dedication were highlighted by Atanasova, who recounted the founding of the folklore group in 1986. She emphasized their commitment to promoting their homeland’s traditions both domestically and internationally.

The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is organized for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. Initiated by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, the festival has hosted previous editions. The 11th iteration in Munich anticipates participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance of more than 4,000 guests.

The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the event.
