Forces Convoys to Move Across National Road and Rail Network After Exercises

Servicemen and military equipment belonging to Land Forces units are scheduled for transport across Bulgaria’s infrastructure from April 28 to April 30, 2026. The movement follows the completion of planned military exercises, according to the Defence Ministry press centre on Monday. On April 28 and 29, personnel and military assets will be moved from the Koren Training Area in Southern Bulgaria.

This movement involves units returning from the tactical drill known as Defensive Shield 26, conducted by the 5th Brigade Command. The transportation route will utilize both road and rail infrastructure, heading toward Pleven, Shumen, and Sliven. The final leg of the planned movements occurs on April 30.

On this day, military convoys, carrying personnel and equipment, will travel along the national road network originating from the Novo Selo Training Area in Southeastern Bulgaria, marking the conclusion of field training exercises. Throughout the operation, the convoys will be escorted by the Military Police Service to ensure security and orderly transit. The planned movements highlight the logistical capacity required to deploy and redeploy military forces across the nation’s network of roads and rail lines.

The coordinated use of these transportation arteries allows the Bulgarian armed forces to conduct large-scale training exercises while maintaining readiness across various geographical sectors.
