Industries Bulgaria Receives Investor of the Year Award

BTL Industries Bulgaria was named Investor of the Year 2025 at the 20th annual awards ceremony organized by the InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA). During the official event at the Hyatt Regency Sofia hotel, Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova presented the award and a “Golden Bull” statuette to the company’s CEO, Veselin Karavasilev. BTL Industries received the top prize for a 2025 investment of EUR 51 million in Plovdiv, which resulted in the creation of over 700 jobs within the country’s industrial sector.

Since establishing operations in Bulgaria in 1998, the company has grown significantly, operating a research and development center in Sofia and employing over 850 people, making it a major employer in the Plovdiv region. The company exports medical devices to over 120 countries across six continents. Karavasilev stated that the recognition acknowledges their sustained commitment to Bulgaria.

He noted that starting with a sales office in 1998, the favorable economic environment and skilled workforce in Bulgaria allowed them to become BTL’s sole production base globally, shipping over 40,000 devices annually from the nation. Other major award recipients highlighted the diverse investment landscape in Bulgaria. Greenfield Investment went to Intuitive Surgical Bulgaria for a EUR 42 million investment in Parvomay, creating over 170 jobs.

Nestle Bulgaria received the Business Expansion Investment award for a EUR 44.63 million investment in Sofia and 119 new jobs. Festo Bulgaria was recognized for its EUR 40 million investment across three locations, generating 140 jobs. The Investor of the Year initiative recognizes contributions to Bulgaria’s economic development, job creation, and innovation across various industries.

The ceremony also honored other entities for their contributions to the investment environment.
