At the 20th Investor of the Year 2025 award ceremony, organized by the InvestBulgaria Agency (BIA) at the Hyatt Regency Sofia hotel, President Iliana Iotova addressed attendees, emphasizing the role of private capital in strengthening Bulgaria’s business environment. Speaking to the gathered investors, President Iotova stated that the activities of investors are crucial in building and sustaining confidence in the nation as a favorable location for enterprise. During her remarks, President Iotova acknowledged the contributions of the business community, noting that their efforts boost trust in Bulgaria’s capacity for economic growth.
She advised that operating in the current turbulent global climate requires investors to maintain high levels of flexibility, ensuring not only the preservation of assets but also the capacity for future business development. She highlighted that ambition, professionalism, and human capital are paramount factors for any functioning economic system. Looking toward the future, the President noted that Bulgaria has been selected by the European Commission to host one of Europe’s gigafactories.
She called for the development of this facility, alongside necessary infrastructure, to establish Bulgaria as a regional industrial leader. Iotova stressed the necessity for Europe to prioritize the development of its own industry. The Investor of the Year initiative recognizes companies and projects that contribute significantly to job creation, innovation, and the sustainable growth of the Bulgarian economy.
The ceremony, which also marked the 30th anniversary of the BIA, brought together key representatives from the business sector, state bodies, and international organizations.
