During the 20th Investor of the Year 2025 award ceremony, held at the Hyatt Regency Sofia hotel, President Iliana Iotova addressed attendees, emphasizing the crucial role of private capital in strengthening Bulgaria’s standing as a favorable business location. Addressing the assembled investors, the President acknowledged their efforts and entrepreneurial spirit, noting that their activities significantly boost confidence in the nation’s economy. In her speech, President Iotova commended the investors for their contributions while advising them to maintain ambition and flexibility amid what she described as a highly turbulent global period.
She asserted that in such a volatile environment, businesses must not only safeguard existing investments but also plan for future development. According to the President, sustained economic growth hinges fundamentally on human capital, professionalism, and insight. Iotova highlighted Bulgaria’s strategic importance, noting that the country is one of six EU nations selected for the construction of a European gigafactory.
She called for the development of this facility and associated infrastructure to establish Bulgaria as a regional leader. She stressed that the European family must prioritize the growth of its own industry. The Investor of the Year initiative, organized by the InvestBulgaria Agency (BIA), recognizes companies and projects that drive economic development, job creation, and sustainable innovation.
The event brought together key figures from the business sector, state institutions, and international partners, while also marking the 30th anniversary of the BIA.
