Macedonia’s President Congratulates Rumen Radev on Election Victory

The President of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, extended congratulations to Rumen Radev following his victory in the recent parliamentary elections. Speaking after attending a Conference of Presidents and Speakers of Parliaments of the Adriatic & Ionian Initiative in Skopje, the President stressed the importance of adopting a regional approach in diplomatic relations. She affirmed that North Macedonia remains committed to building “friendly and constructive relations” and fostering mutual understanding regarding the necessity of European Union enlargement.

When questioned about her interactions with Radev, the President stated that she had contacted him after the elections and subsequently received a call from him. She noted, “I wished him success and said I believe that such strong support is a guarantee of stability,” adding that Bulgarian citizens likely view him as a stabilizing figure for the nation. She suggested this support might facilitate his efforts to form a government and implement his agenda, adding that she looked forward to arranging a meeting.

Adding to the diplomatic commentary, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski also congratulated Radev on his win, emphasizing the necessity of dialogue and positive neighborly ties.
