The Youth and Sports Minister, Dimitar Iliev, acknowledged the achievements of Bulgarian athletes Mariyana Uzunova and Kaloyan Petrov following their participation in the European Trampoline Championships held in Portimao, Portugal. The Ministry reported on Thursday that the athletes secured a total of two bronze medals during the continental competition. Uzunova achieved a third-place finish in the individual event within the under-21 age category, earning a score of 51.580 points in the final round.
In the men’s competition of the same age group, Petrov placed seventh. He noted that a specific error during his routine impacted his ability to reach the podium. Additionally, Uzunova and Petrov earned a medal in the mixed synchronized event, where their routine was awarded 46.180 points, securing them third place overall.
During the ceremony, Minister Iliev commended the athletes on their strong performance at the European Championships in Portugal. He emphasized the demanding nature of the sport, noting that even minor errors can significantly affect outcomes. The minister encouraged both athletes, stating, “You are young and the future is ahead of you.
Continue working in the same way, pursue your dreams and, above all, believe in yourselves. I am convinced that your greatest successes are still to come.”
Coach Stanislav Stoyanov was also honored with an honorary plaque during the proceedings.
