Hosts ACI Europe Meeting

The 51st meeting of the Technical, Operational and Safety Committee (TOSC) of ACI EUROPE is currently taking place in Sofia, Bulgaria, according to the local airport’s press center. SOF Connect is hosting the event, which is gathering over 100 leading experts and representatives from the airport industry across Europe. The forum is designed to facilitate in-depth discussions within working groups covering critical contemporary issues.

Key topics for discussion include digitalization and cybersecurity enhancements, the integration of artificial intelligence within aviation, managing operational resilience, and fostering collaboration among airports, institutions, and service providers. Jesus Caballero of SOF Connect noted that the gathering is a significant milestone for the transformation of Vasil Levski Airport – Sofia into a 5-star regional facility within Europe. He stated that the event provides a valuable platform for exchanging experience and discussing innovations crucial for shaping the future of both airport operations and safety standards.

The program also features a special session dedicated to presenting the development plans for Vasil Levski Airport – Sofia. This session will detail progress on major infrastructure projects, including preparations for Terminal 3, alongside the strategic vision for sustainable development, digitalization, and service quality improvements. ACI EUROPE, headquartered in Brussels, represents over 600 airports spanning 55 countries.

Its membership accounts for more than 95% of commercial air traffic across the continent. According to the statement, the air transport sector supports 14 million jobs and generates EUR 851 billion in European economic activity, equating to 5% of the continent’s GDP.
