An applied science conference for students, PhD candidates, and young scientists was held at the Taraclia branch of the Angel Kanchev University of Ruse on Monday. This event marked the first student conference hosted by the branch in Moldova and formed part of the University of Ruse’s 65th science conference. The conference commenced with a plenary session, attended by the branch director and administrative director.
During the opening ceremony, a presentation was given regarding the establishment of a common European space for education and science and the role of universities within it. The agenda also included presentations on three books published with support from the Bulgarian Spirit Foundation. Organizers stated the conference aimed to encourage scientific output among students and assess the capacity of their supervising tutors.
The success of the event was highlighted by the 23 papers presented, developed collaboratively by students and supervisors. The conference was structured across three distinct thematic areas. The first focused on Bulgarian cultural-historical heritage, covering topics such as the contributions of Bulgarian historians and archaeologists, and the impact of medieval literature on critical thinking.
The second thematic area explored interdisciplinary research, featuring discussions on folk music as a cultural identifier, Bulgarian folk dance in Moldova, and pedagogical interactions between tutors and parents. The final section addressed new challenges in education and psychology, including the development of communication skills and the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in student academic growth. The establishment of the Taraclia branch, which began its academic year on September 1, 2025, was finalized following its transformation from a local university to a branch of the University of Ruse.
This transition is considered a strategic step enhancing academic cooperation between Bulgaria and Moldova.
