The Bulgarian investment landscape showed strong indicators of growth, diversification, and a strategic focus on high-value industries, according to reports from the 20th Investor of the Year awards. The InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA) hosted the event, which also marked the agency’s 30th anniversary, at the Hyatt Regency Sofia on Monday evening. BTL Industries Bulgaria received the Investor of the Year 2025 award for a EUR 51 million investment in Plovdiv, which generated over 700 jobs.
The company, which has operated in Bulgaria since 1998, has become a key global production base, employing over 850 people and exporting medical devices to more than 120 countries. During the award ceremony, President Iliana Iotova presented the distinction, noting that the award recognizes sustained development in the nation and highlights Bulgaria’s potential as a major medical technology hub. Other major accolades spanned various sectors, recognizing projects from Intuitive Surgical in Parvomay, Aero Technic BG in Sofia, Nestlé Bulgaria, and Festo Bulgaria.
The emphasis across all categories remained on job creation, technological advancement, and regional economic impact, with special recognitions for sustainable practices and start-ups. Further reinforcing the positive trend, the IBA reported that foreign direct investment in Bulgaria surpassed EUR 800 million in the first two months of 2026, nearly doubling the figure recorded in the same period the previous year.
