On April Uprising Revive Memory of Freedom Martyrs, Says BTA Director General

The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) Director General, Kiril Valchev, stated that discussions concerning the April Uprising serve to honor the martyrs who fought for Bulgaria’s freedom. He made these remarks at the opening of a conference commemorating the 150th anniversary of the 1876 event at the Historical Museum in Panagyurishte. This conference marked the conclusion of a series of dialogues organized by BTA across several revolutionary districts, including Veliko Tarnovo, Sliven, Vratsa, Panagyurishte, Ruse, and Giurgiu.

During the discussions, participants analyzed significant lessons from the April Uprising, emphasizing the necessity of establishing overarching goals before undertaking difficult preparatory steps. Valchev noted that the historical record shows that periods deemed unsuccessful ultimately contributed to Bulgaria’s ultimate freedom.
