The 52nd National Assembly has established six parliamentary groups following the announcement of their respective leaders by Parliament Chair Mihaela Dotsova during the inaugural session on Thursday. The composition of the groups and their designated leaders is as follows: Progressive Bulgaria is represented by floor leader Petar Vitanov, with deputy floor leaders Galin Durev, Vladimir Nikolov, Slavi Vassilev, and Olga Borisova. GERB-UDF is headed by floor leader Boyko Borissov, supported by deputy floor leaders Denitsa Sacheva, Kostadin Angelov, and Roumen Hristov.
The Movement for Rights and Freedoms features floor leader Delyan Peevski, alongside deputy floor leaders Ayten Sabri, Halil Letifov, Hamid Hamid, and Iskra Mihaylova-Koparova. Democratic Bulgaria has floor leader Nadejda Iordanova, with deputy floor leaders Bozhidar Bozhanov and Katya Paneva. Continue the Change (CC) has floor leader Nikolay Denkov, and its deputy floor leaders include Ivaylo Shotev and Tatyana Sultanova-Siveva.
Vazrazhdane is led by floor leader Kostadin Kostadinov, with deputy floor leader Peter Petrov. Previously, Continue the Change and Democratic Bulgaria campaigned together as a coalition. However, on Wednesday, the two parties announced a decision to separate into distinct parliamentary groups.
Democratic Bulgaria’s leadership characterized this split as “a serious political mistake.” In response, Continue the Change proposed that the groups sign an agreement to form a joint parliamentary alliance under the banner, “Strong Bulgaria in a Strong Europe.”
