The 52nd National Assembly’s composition was detailed on Thursday when Parliament Chair Mihaela Dotsova announced the leaderships of six parliamentary groups during the inaugural session. The six groups and their respective leaders and deputies were announced. Progressive Bulgaria’s floor leader is Petar Vitanov, supported by Deputy floor leaders Galin Durev, Vladimir Nikolov, Slavi Vassilev, and Olga Borisova.
GERB-UDF is headed by Boyko Borissov, with Deputy floor leaders Denitsa Sacheva, Kostadin Angelov, and Roumen Hristov. The Movement for Rights and Freedoms features Delyan Peevski as its floor leader, alongside Deputy floor leaders Ayten Sabri, Halil Letifov, Hamid Hamid, and Iskra Mihaylova-Koparova. Democratic Bulgaria’s leader is Nadejda Iordanova, with Deputy floor leaders Bozhidar Bozhanov and Katya Paneva.
Continue the Change (CC) is led by Nikolay Denkov, with Deputy floor leaders Ivaylo Shotev and Tatyana Sultanova-Siveva. Vazrazhdane’s floor leader is Kostadin Kostadinov, and its Deputy floor leader is Peter Petrov. It was noted that Continue the Change and Democratic Bulgaria, which campaigned together during the elections, announced a decision on Wednesday to form two separate parliamentary groups.
Democratic Bulgaria characterized this separation as a “serious political mistake,” while Continue the Change extended an invitation to sign an agreement establishing a joint parliamentary alliance under the banner, “Strong Bulgaria in a Strong Europe.”
