Physicist Petko Dinev Hopes for Moon Landing Captured on His Company’s Cameras

During a recent visit to Sofia Tech Park, Petko Dinev, a Bulgarian engineering physicist whose work has contributed to NASA’s Artemis missions, expressed optimism regarding Bulgaria’s role in space technology. Accompanied by Foreign Minister Nadezhda Neynsky, Dinev stated that his primary aspiration is to capture a Moon landing using his company’s specialized cameras. Dinev founded ImperX, a high-tech firm developing optical and digital imaging technologies utilized across industry, security, and space applications, including participation in Artemis.

Speaking to journalists, the scientist emphasized his connection to Bulgaria, noting that he spends considerable time in the country due to his company’s offices in Sofia and Plovdiv. Concerning the Artemis II mission, Dinev expressed pride in being part of the program. He confirmed that the televised footage was genuinely captured from the launch vehicle at Cape Canaveral, refuting claims that the event was staged in Hollywood.

Furthermore, he noted that over 10,000 photographs taken by astronauts will be analyzed to help determine the precise landing site for Artemis V in 2028. Highlighting Bulgaria’s growing capabilities, Dinev pointed to the nation’s scientific expertise, which he believes is currently at a high level. He emphasized ongoing collaborations between Bulgarian scientists and international universities in Europe and the US.

Dinev concluded by expressing hope that Bulgaria will once again be recognized among the global leaders in advanced space exploration, building on the foundation of his company’s advanced imaging systems.
