An agreement was signed between the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) and the Mayor of Panagyurishte, Zhelyazko Gagov, providing the municipality with the BTA’s LIK typeface. During the signing, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev noted that the LIK typeface was developed by the National Academy of Art and was intended to reflect the spirit of Bulgarian letters, drawing elements from the oldest Bulgarian Cyrillic inscriptions. Valchev explained that the adoption of a standardized font was part of a broader rebranding effort for BTA, which previously utilized a mix of various fonts across its website, publications, and official signage.
He highlighted the growing institutional use of the font, noting that BTA had already provided the LIK typeface to several key bodies, including the Sts Cyril and Methodius National Library and the Culture Ministry. The agreement with Panagyurishte marks the municipality’s second adoption, following Tundzha. Mayor Gagov stated that the LIK font conveyed a strong message regarding Bulgarian symbolism and tradition, affirming that documents bearing the typeface would carry cultural significance.
