Industrial producer price growth in Bulgaria slowed to 8.1% year-on-year in March, according to data released by the National Statistical Institute (NSI). While the overall Producer Price Index for industry experienced a 0.8% decrease in March 2026 compared to the preceding month, the index remained 8.1% higher than its level recorded in March 2025. Examining the month-over-month changes, the NSI reported declines in the production and distribution sectors for electricity, heat, and gas, which fell by 7.7% compared to February.
Conversely, the mining industry registered a 3.3% increase, and manufacturing saw a rise of 2.2%. On an annual basis, price inflation remained elevated across key sectors in March. The mining industry reported a substantial annual increase of 40.4%, manufacturing prices rose by 4.9%, and the production and distribution of electricity, heat, and gas increased by 0.8% over the past year.
Providing context for the year, industrial producer prices began the period with a 5.9% month-on-month increase and an 11.3% year-on-year increase in January. This upward trend moderated in February, where monthly price growth slowed to 0.1%, while the year-on-year rate stood at 8.4%.
