Producer Price Growth in Bulgaria Slows to 8.1% Year-on-Year in March

Industrial producer price growth in Bulgaria decelerated to 8.1% year-on-year in March, according to data released by the National Statistical Institute (NSI). While the overall Producer Price Index saw a marginal dip of 0.8% compared to the preceding month, the annual rate of 8.1% remained elevated relative to the figures recorded in March of the previous year. Analyzing the month-over-month shifts, the NSI noted that prices for the production and distribution of electricity, heat, and gas decreased by 7.7% compared to February.

Conversely, increases were observed in the mining sector, which rose by 3.3%, and in manufacturing, which increased by 2.2%. When examining the annual trends for March, the data highlighted significant variation across sectors. The mining industry registered a substantial year-on-year price increase of 40.4%.

Manufacturing experienced a growth rate of 4.9%, while the electricity, heat, and gas sector recorded a modest annual increase of 0.8%. For context, the year began with industrial producer prices increasing by 5.9% month-on-month and 11.3% year-on-year. This upward momentum slowed in February, posting a monthly increase of 0.1% and a year-on-year rise of 8.4%.

The latest figures provide a detailed snapshot of the performance of the Bulgarian producer price index across key industrial segments.
