Sets Up Mobile Thematic Press Club to Promote Jazz

The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) established a National Jazz Press Club on April 29, signing a partnership agreement with the Milcho Leviev Association for Culture and Education. The ceremony took place at the In The Mood Jazz Club in Sofia, marking International Jazz Day (April 30). The event featured artists Vicky Almazidou, Antoni Donchev, and Vasil Hadjigrudev.

This new addition marks BTA’s 46th press club and its third mobile iteration, following previous press clubs held during book fairs and aboard a naval research vessel. BTA Director General Kiril Valchev stated that the agency has systematically increased its support for cultural festivals, including those related to jazz. This support extends through promotion both nationally and internationally via its English-language service.

Valchev noted that BTA now provides deeper, daily coverage of festivals, including musician profiles and comprehensive concert reporting. He emphasized that by naming organizers and supporters, BTA aims to model support for Bulgarian culture, providing usable news content for other media outlets. In related announcements, the Milcho Leviev Association confirmed the 3rd Milcho Leviev National Music Competition, scheduled from June 29 to July 3, for pianists aged 10 to 25.
