Someone Begins Doing Their Job, They Get Framed with False Witnesses – CC Leader Vassilev

Following statements from Interior Ministry’s acting Secretary General Georgi Kandev, who claimed he faced pressure to resign, Continue the Change (CC) leader Assen Vassilev issued a strong critique via Facebook. Vassilev stated that the situation indicated a pattern where, according to him, someone who begins doing their job is immediately targeted with accusations from false witnesses. He characterized the reported threats against Secretary General Kandev as “absolutely scandalous.”

Vassilev further asserted that the only path toward a prosperous, just, and European Bulgaria required the immediate replacement of the Supreme Judicial Council and a comprehensive overhaul of the judicial system.

His comments were accompanied by a photograph of Kandev, captioned with the declaration, “I won’t go home.”

This commentary followed earlier reports concerning Kandev. On Friday, Kandev posted a video message on Facebook indicating that he had received a directive to resign but refused to succumb to perceived threats or private negotiations. He had been informed that individuals, including a person known by the nickname “Kartofa” [The Potato], had provided false testimony against him at the Sofia City Prosecution Office the previous day.
