The SPA Thracian Residence, situated within the Starosel Wine & Spa Complex in the village of Starosel, Plovdiv Region, offers a combination of healing mineral water and specialized wine-based therapies. According to the hotel manager, Videlin Piskov, the facility emphasizes the use of natural cosmetics produced directly from the complex’s own vineyards. A key feature of the spa experience is the incorporation of vineyard products into various treatments.
Essential oils extracted from the winery’s grape seeds are utilized in massage oils, toning serums, and eye contour products, while crushed grape seed pulp is incorporated into exfoliating treatments. Furthermore, the center provides wine-based procedures using mud sourced from the winery’s fermenters, offering antioxidant therapies, aromatherapy, and relaxing rituals alongside standard massages and cosmetic treatments for the face and body. The complex’s mineral water, maintained at approximately 54°C, is noted for its benefits to both the skin and the musculoskeletal system, supporting detoxification, improving circulation, and aiding skin restoration.
The spa area is equipped with comprehensive amenities, including indoor and outdoor mineral pools, a saltwater pool with hydromassage jets, a plunge pool, Finnish and aromatic saunas, steam baths, hammams, a snow room, a sun room, and a salt cave for halotherapy. The facility employs specialized staff, including kinesiotherapists, rehabilitation specialists, and massage therapists. While Bulgarian visitors form the majority during the autumn, winter, and spring seasons, international patronage increases during the summer months.
The largest contingents of international guests originate from Germany, Turkiye, Romania, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
