Two of President Iotova’s Armenia Visit for European Political Community Summit

Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova remains in Armenia for the Eighth Summit of the European Political Community, which commenced in Yerevan on Monday. The President’s press secretariat confirmed that President Iotova is scheduled to participate in a high-level discussion concerning the impact of the Vertical Gas Corridor on regional energy security. This strategic initiative aims to bolster energy security and diversify natural gas supplies across Southeastern, Eastern, and Central Europe.

During the forum, President Iotova intends to address the critical role of transport and energy connectivity within Europe. Her schedule also includes participation in an event titled “European Coalition Against Drugs.” Separately, President Iotova is set to meet with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas. The Summit is jointly chaired by European Council President Antonio Costa and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Previously, on Sunday, President Iotova and Prime Minister Pashinyan signed a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and Armenia. During her visit, President Iotova also toured the Peyo Yavorov Primary School in Yerevan. Furthermore, President Iotova and her Armenian counterpart, Vahagn Khachaturyan, held discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation.

President Iotova emphasized the significance of the European Political Community in advancing connectivity and improving relations throughout Europe.
