-Visual Installation Unveiled on Panagyurishte as Sanctuary of National Spirit in 1876

The audiovisual installation, titled “Panagyurishte 1876 – a Sanctuary of the National Spirit!,” was unveiled on Friday as part of Panagyurishte’s commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by President Iliana Iotova, Panagyurishte Mayor Zhelyazko Gagov, Panagyurishte History Museum Director Atanas Shopov, donor Dimitar Tsotsorkov, and Municipal Council Chairman Ivan Lalov. During her address, President Iotova emphasized that the legacy of the April Uprising centers on national unity and enduring homeland love.

She stated that for Bulgaria to achieve its potential among European nations, standing together is essential. Museum Director Shopov noted that the Uprising remains a potent symbol of hope and the end of servitude, affirming Panagyurishte’s significant role in the national struggle, which he described as making the region a sanctuary of the national spirit. Shopov added that the museum’s new, pioneering visual installation was made possible through the financial support of the Lachezar Tsotsorkov Foundation.

Mayor Gagov thanked the Foundation for its commitment to preserving the local heritage. Dimitar Tsotsorkov, representing the donor family, acknowledged the event while advocating for governance based on the rule of law and transparency. At the event, Chief Curator Irina Boteva announced that the Lachezar Tsotsorkov Foundation would receive a certificate and plaque for its exceptional contribution.

Separately, Nikolay Peltekov, Executive Director of Asarel Medet, reported on the restoration of the Alley of Freedom near the Oborishte area, noting it was an anniversary donation initiative commemorating the Uprising.
