Dubrovnik is hosting the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Summit, which commenced on Tuesday. The event includes a Bulgarian delegation, led by Bulgaria’s Ambassador to Croatia, Iva Kruleva, along with representatives from Bulgarian SMEs and companies. Dubrovnik Mayor Mato Frankovic confirmed the city’s readiness for the summit, noting that special traffic regulations have been implemented.
As the tourist season is underway, Dubrovnik Airport anticipates a high volume of arrivals, accommodating both tourists and aircraft carrying summit participants. Police are managing traffic flow for arriving delegations and have advised residents to anticipate potential congestion. The presence of numerous high-ranking officials is also expected to draw significant international media coverage.
The 3SI serves as a forum for political and economic cooperation among thirteen EU Member States situated between the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black Seas: Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Bulgaria. Key strategic partners include Germany, the European Commission, the United States, Japan, Spain, and Turkiye, while Ukraine, Moldova, Albania, and Montenegro are associate members. The core objective of the initiative is to enhance regional connectivity through investments in energy, transport, and digital infrastructure.
The 2026 edition, hosted by Croatia, will focus on strengthening regional resilience and linking 3SI nations to global corridors, such as the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. Romana Vlahutin, Croatia’s national coordinator, highlighted that the summit aims to combine capital and efforts for connectivity projects, drawing participation from 45 countries. Among the expected political participants are heads of state and government from several nations, underscoring the broad scope of this regional summit.
