Welcomes Participants in Three Seas Initiative Summit

Dubrovnik is currently hosting the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Summit, with a Bulgarian delegation, led by Ambassador Iva Kruleva, also attending the meeting. Mayor Mato Frankovic confirmed the city’s readiness for the event, noting that special traffic regulations have been implemented. With the tourist season underway, Dubrovnik Airport anticipates arrivals from both tourists and aircraft carrying summit participants.

Police have been deployed to manage traffic flow, and residents have been advised to exercise patience regarding potential congestion. The high attendance of international media is also expected due to the presence of numerous high-ranking officials. The 3SI serves as a platform for political and economic cooperation among thirteen EU Member States situated between the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black Seas: Bulgaria, Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

Key strategic partners include Germany, the European Commission, the United States (US), Japan, Spain, and Turkiye. Ukraine, Moldova, Albania, and Montenegro are associate members. The initiative’s goal is to enhance regional connectivity through investments in energy, transport, and digital infrastructure.

Launched in 2016 by Croatia and Poland, the next 3SI edition in 2026 will focus on regional resilience and digital transformation, linking member states to global corridors such as the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. Romana Vlahutin, Croatia’s national coordinator, stated that the summit aims to strengthen North-South connectivity. She highlighted the broad scope of the summit, noting that the participants include companies from 45 countries, positioning it beyond a purely regional effort.

Numerous political figures, including heads of state and government from several nations, are expected to attend this significant gathering.
