Welcomes Participants in Three Seas Initiative Summit

Dubrovnik is hosting the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Summit, which commenced on Tuesday. The event includes a Bulgarian delegation, led by Bulgaria’s Ambassador to Croatia, Iva Kruleva, alongside representatives from Bulgarian small and medium-sized enterprises and companies. Dubrovnik Mayor Mato Frankovic confirmed the city’s readiness for the summit, noting that special traffic regulations have been implemented.

With the tourist season underway, Dubrovnik Airport anticipates a significant influx of both tourists and aircraft carrying summit attendees. Police are managing traffic flow for arriving delegations and have advised residents to anticipate potential congestion. The expected presence of numerous high-ranking officials is also anticipated to draw leading international media coverage.

The 3SI serves as a framework for political and economic collaboration among thirteen EU Member States situated between the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black Seas: Bulgaria, Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia. Key strategic partners include Germany, the European Commission, the United States, Japan, Spain, and Turkiye. Ukraine, Moldova, Albania, and Montenegro are associate members.

The initiative aims to enhance regional connectivity through investments in energy, transport, and digital infrastructure, having been established in 2016 by Croatia and Poland. For the 2026 edition, hosted by Croatia, the focus will be on strengthening regional resilience and digital transformation, linking 3SI nations to global corridors such as the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Romana Vlahutin, Croatia’s national coordinator for the 3SI, noted that the summit brings together global business leaders and European heads of state, with participants arriving from 45 countries.

Among the political guests are heads of state and government from Austria, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Romania, Slovakia, Montenegro, Czechia, and Ukraine.
