Will Be Constructive, Responsible Opposition

Addressing the 52nd National Assembly during its inaugural session on Thursday, Ayten Sabri MP of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) stated that the party intends to serve as a constructive and responsible opposition. Sabri affirmed that the MRF will support any policy deemed beneficial to the rights and freedoms of Bulgarian citizens and the State. However, she emphasized that the party will also act as a principled corrective whenever there are deviations from the established principles of good governance, transparency, legality, democracy, or human rights.

In response to the current domestic and international environment, Sabri stressed that Bulgaria requires a clear and sustainable policy vision. She outlined several key priorities for the nation, including improving the quality of life and raising living standards, ensuring economic stability and growth, modernizing both the economy and agricultural sector, guaranteeing food safety, mitigating social and regional disparities, and supporting young families. Furthermore, she highlighted the importance of preserving traditional values, advancing Bulgaria’s integration as an effective EU member state, and maintaining constructive partnerships with the US and the Euro-Atlantic community.

The MP stated that the MRF’s actions will be guided by the principle of upholding the liberty, justice, and equality of every citizen. She argued that this commitment is vital for moving beyond confrontation and restoring a culture of political dialogue aimed at finding common public solutions. Sabri concluded by appealing for the Parliament to exemplify political maturity, urging members to build consensus rather than division to secure Bulgaria’s future.

  1. It’s good to hear a party commit to constructive opposition rather than just criticism.
