The World Dance Collective Gurbetchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. This event will take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich. The ensemble plans to present the premiere of its mini-performance titled “Return and Celebration after the Balkan War.”
Teodosi Teodosiev, the founder of the Gurbetchii World Dance Collective, stated that the performance carries significance beyond mere dance.
He described it as a reconnection to cultural roots, inner strength, and identity, regardless of geographical location. Teodosiev also acknowledged the invitation received from the Lazarka ensemble, which is headed by Plamen Petkov, the artistic director and organizer of this year’s festival. He expressed gratitude for their support and to all the dancers, noting that the Bulgarian spirit transcends national borders.
The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was initially established by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which has hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. The upcoming 11th edition in Munich is anticipated to host over 100 dance ensembles and more than 4,000 attendees.
The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the event and will provide coverage for all participants.
