52nd National Assembly Opens

The 52nd National Assembly of Bulgaria convened on Thursday morning, commencing its session at 10 a.m. The inaugural sitting was formally opened by Rumen Milanov, a 78-year-old National Representative from the Progressive Bulgaria party. Addressing the gathered lawmakers, Milanov outlined two primary mandates for the newly convened legislative body: reinforcing the rule of law and maintaining domestic peace.

Following the opening address, Milanov administered the oath to the 240 members of the assembly. The oath required all lawmakers to swear an oath affirming their commitment to the Republic of Bulgaria. The text stipulated that each representative would observe the Constitution and the laws of the land, pledging to guide all actions in service of the people’s interests.

The ceremonial proceedings included the playing of the Bulgarian national anthem alongside the anthem of Europe within the debating chamber. During the performance of the Ode to Joy, members of the Vazrazhdane group remained seated. Upon completion of the ceremony, all participating MPs were required to sign the official oath documents and submit them to the administration.
