Election Commission: With 91.68% of Tally Sheets Processed, Progressive Bulgaria Leads with 44.7%, Second Is GERB-UDF with 13.4%

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has issued preliminary results following the parliamentary election held on April 19. As of 10:00 AM on Monday, the initial assessment was based on the processing of 91.68% of the total tally sheets. These sheets were processed sequentially by the section election commissions and subsequently consolidated at the constituency election commissions.

According to the CEC’s announcement, the preliminary data has identified several parties and coalitions that successfully surpassed the mandatory 4% electoral threshold. Legally, the CEC operates under strict guidelines regarding the finalization of the electoral process. The Election Code stipulates that the commission must officially announce the total votes received and the subsequent distribution of seats among all participating parties and coalitions no later than four days following the election date.

Furthermore, the names of the elected Members of Parliament must be published within seven days of the vote. This recent vote constitutes the eighth parliamentary election in Bulgaria since 2021. The release of these preliminary figures represents a critical procedural milestone in the overall election tabulation.

The continuous processing of the tally sheets by various commissions is essential to establishing the final, certified outcome of the democratic process. The ongoing work of the various election commissions is dedicated to ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the final count.
