Election Commission: With 91.68% of Tally Sheets Processed, Progressive Bulgaria Leads with 44.7%, Second Is GERB-UDF with 13.4%

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released preliminary results concerning the parliamentary elections conducted on April 19. These initial findings are based on the processing of 91.68% of the total tally sheets submitted by section election commissions to the constituency election commissions as of 10:00 am on Monday. The preliminary announcements detailed which political parties and coalitions successfully surpassed the established 4% electoral threshold.

The process adheres to specific legal timelines outlined in the Election Code. Under this code, the CEC is mandated to publish the official vote counts and the subsequent distribution of seats among all participating parties and coalitions no later than four days following the election date. Furthermore, the identification and announcement of the elected Members of Parliament must be completed within seven days of the election day.

These proceedings mark the eighth parliamentary election in Bulgaria since 2021. The preliminary nature of the current announcement means that final results are pending the comprehensive processing of all remaining tally sheets. The CEC continues to manage the meticulous tabulation process, ensuring that all data gathered from local commissions contributes to the final constitutional mandate.

The continuous work of the election commission is crucial to establishing the definitive composition of the parliament following this major electoral event.
