Election Commission: Based on 96.41% of Tally Sheets, Progressive Bulgaria Leads with 44.7%, GERB-UDF Second with 13.4%

The Central Election Commission (CEC) released preliminary results for the parliamentary elections held on April 19. These initial findings are based on 96.41% of the tally sheets processed by the section election commissions and subsequently reviewed by the constituency election commissions as of 11:00 AM on Monday. According to the preliminary data, several parties and coalitions have crossed the established 4% electoral threshold.

The CEC is legally obligated by the Election Code to announce the total votes received and the subsequent distribution of seats among the participating parties and coalitions no later than four days following the election day. Furthermore, the names of the elected Members of Parliament must be officially announced within seven days of the election. These elections marked the eighth parliamentary contest in Bulgaria since 2021.

The preliminary release of figures by the election commission provides an early indication of the electoral landscape. The process involves the meticulous counting and aggregation of votes by various levels of the election commission structure. The CEC’s timeline dictates a structured announcement process following the vote count.

The preliminary results are based on the data compiled through the commission’s processing stages. Citizens and political observers await the final certification from the election commission to confirm the definitive outcome of the election.
