Election Commission: Based on 96.41% of Tally Sheets, Progressive Bulgaria Leads with 44.7%, GERB-UDF Second with 13.4%

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released preliminary results concerning the parliamentary election held on April 19. These initial findings are based on the processing of 96.41% of the tally sheets, compiled by the section election commissions and subsequently reviewed by the constituency election commissions as of 11:00 am on Monday. According to the preliminary data, specific parties and coalitions have crossed the mandated 4% electoral threshold.

The CEC operates under strict guidelines regarding the finalization of the results. The Election Code stipulates that the commission must announce the precise vote counts and the subsequent distribution of seats among all participating parties and coalitions no later than four days following the election day. Furthermore, the names of the duly elected Members of Parliament must be officially published within seven days of the vote.

This election represents the eighth parliamentary contest in Bulgaria since 2021, making the finalization of the results a significant procedural milestone. The preliminary figures provide an initial overview of the political landscape, but the final tally awaits the completion of the mandated review processes by the relevant electoral commissions. Stakeholders are awaiting the official certification of the vote distribution, which will determine the composition of the next legislative body.
